Farm Poortjie with mountains, Sedibeng District

Our Story

A young farmer's journey from aspiration to a thriving, sustainable agricultural enterprise on the fertile plains of Gauteng.

From Aspiration
To Operation.

Malijuda Distributors (Pty) Ltd was founded by Makgotso Immaculate Motloung — a young female agri-preneur with a deep commitment to transforming South African agriculture from within. Trading as Rehoboth Boerdery, the company operates in Poortjie, Gauteng.

The farm spans 21.5 hectares of mixed agricultural land and encompasses a piggery structure, two storage facilities, a cattle camp, and a residential dwelling. With a functional borehole and power infrastructure, the farm was revived and now hosts 42 to 100 pigs, producing porkers and baconers for the N&N Vark Abattoir in Nigel. Arable land is under production for vegetables including beetroot, carrots, and lucerne.

As a company we constantly strive to improve our business activities in order to attain our main objectives — providing food security, sharing agricultural knowledge, and growing as a company in ways that positively impact our community.

The piggery production is our flagship income stream, supported by vegetable farming supplied to PickNPay Westonaira, the Joburg Fresh Produce Market, Vereeniging Fresh Produce Market, and under contract with RSC Group at the Joburg Market. Our four daily farm workers form the backbone of our operations — trained, monitored, and empowered.

Three Pillars of
Corporate Responsibility.

We take full responsibility in the supervision of the three pillars of corporate sustainability — environmental, social, and economic.

Environmental

We set up systems to decrease pollution on the farm. Livestock manure is composted and repurposed as organic fertiliser for our vegetable production sites — reducing waste and improving soil health naturally.

Social

Our social responsibility is the action we take to protect our staff, neighbours, and visitors. We actively manage veld fire risk, maintain environmental compliance, and prioritise safety across all farm operations.

Economic

We consistently honour all legalities and levies — lease payments, taxes, UIF registrations, and labour law compliance — to build a business that is financially accountable and trustworthy to all stakeholders.

A Bigger Contributor
To Food Security.

We will implement and strategise in ways that make us a much bigger contributor in tackling food security in South Africa.

Hands holding rich dark soil at Farm Poortjie
  • Ensure the business is fully operational for the next 30 years based on our lease contract at Farm Poortjie.
  • Grow piggery capacity from 50 animal units to 100 sow units — and ultimately 500 — in the coming years.
  • Employ at least 30 permanent workers on the farm within the next three years, prioritising youth aged 23–35.
  • Upscale vegetable production to 10 hectares of beetroot and carrots for formal retail and export markets.
  • Establish a food-safe agro-processing facility and get canned pickled beet onto local and global retail shelves.
  • Turn Farm Poortjie into an agricultural training facility — sharing knowledge with aspiring farmers across South Africa.
